Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Lebanon 2023

Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is a massive campaign to celebrate and empower entrepreneurs in every country and community worldwide, especially those individuals who face structural barriers or may have never considered launching a startup. Every November 10th,  million people participate in tens of thousands of activities, competitions, and events that inspire them to act and provide them with the knowledge, experience, and connections they need to succeed.

Since 2012, many partners have hosted the Global Entrepreneurship Week in Lebanon, and ACIE has been the national host for the last two years, and this year, the ACIE team focused on bringing together the ecosystem and strengthening the bonds to broaden entrepreneurial support.

Starting July, key players of the ecosystem met on a monthly basis to restore a collaborative spirit, break the silos, and quit working solo to put Lebanon on the international innovation map.

Partners organized 135 events throughout November, firmly establishing Lebanon as a global player in entrepreneurship. By teaming up with 30 different organizations, the initiative drew in 7,600+ participants. The scope and diversity of these activities encompassed the entire geographical landscape of Lebanon, showcasing the broad involvement and impact of the entrepreneurial spirit across the country.

This collaborative effort boosted Lebanon to 9th place in the global rankings, highlighting the determination and excitement within the local entrepreneurial community.

The closing of the Global Entrepreneurship Week in Lebanon brought together a diverse community of innovators, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders at Antwork, a vibrant co-working space in the heart of Hamra in Beirut. The event aimed to celebrate collaboration, provide a learning platform, and create growth opportunities within the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The agenda featured a panel discussion on Lebanon’s technological landscape, offering insights into the sector’s current state. Pixel 38 led an enlightening workshop on e-commerce tailored specifically for startups, empowering them with the tools and insights needed to navigate the digital marketplace. An exhibition in partnership with Loubnany showcased the innovations and endeavors of 15 startups, adding a vibrant touch to the event.

The success of this initiative reflects the collaborative spirit of the Lebanese ecosystem and emphasizes the thriving environment that positions Lebanon as a dynamic hub for innovation and entrepreneurship on the world stage.
